Yet again our programme was badly affected by the weather this weekend.
All our Home games were Postponed due to waterlogged pitches. Only 1 fixture was possible with our 6th XI gaining a 3-1 victory at Southgate Olympic. Again on Sunday our Youth fixtures were heavily disrupted. This Saturday we host the AFA Veterans Cup Final between London Lions Vets & Old Aloysians Vets. This should be an entertaining fixture weather permitting.

We continue this post in the absence of our President.
Again the weather heavily affected our programme last weekend, but we still managed to get our 3 Home fixtures played. The 1st XI continue their rich vein of form with an excellent 3-0 victory over Kew Association. 2 goals from Errol Ibrahim, the second something special from the young forward who has risen from the 7th XI earlier in the season to seal a well earned victory. Confidence is a wonderful thing in football, this together with a great spirit and outstanding leadership has lifted them to a challenging position for a much needed Promotion chance. The Res XI had an outstanding victory 5-0 away to Polytechnic, who are a close rival in challenging for the SAL Div 2 Intermediate Championship. The 3rd XI had their game at Alleyn Old Boys cancelled. The 4th XI went down by the odd goal in a 9 goal thriller to Old Garchonians, who are putting together a serious challenge for the top spot which we have maintained all season to date. The 5th XI had a 1-3 defeat at home to Old Finchleians and sadly look to be struggling in their Division. The 6th XI had a great Victory against the top of table team East Barnet OG's 5-3. It is a shame that they got off to a poor start to the season, or they could well be challenging for Promotion. Unfortunately the 7th XI had to withdraw from their fixture this Saturday. May I take this opportunity of reminding you all that the ANNUAL DINNER will take place on Friday 24th April 2015 at The Southgate Masonic Hall, Chaseside, Southgate, N14. Whilst our President is taking a well earned break visiting his son and newly born Grandchild in Dubai, we continue his post in his absence.
Again our fixtures were depleted by the weather as playing conditions continue to be very difficult, however we managed our Home fixtures of which there were only the 2 games. The 1st XI continue their rich vein of form with a well deserved 4-1 win at home to Southbank Cuaco. If only we had Paul Jarrett back from the start of the season, his return has given the team a much improved confidence as we look to climb the table and earn a respectable finish to the season. With still 9 games to go, we could force our way to promotion. In the other game, sadly our 7th XI suffered a heavy defeat 1-6 at the hands of a well organised Old Parkonians 7th XI. The cancellation of their previous 5 fixtures has not helped their fitness. On a brighter note, I am pleased to report that our U13 Youth side have reached the Final of the AFA Cup after coming out on top in a 9 goal semi final thriller 5-4. Well done boys and Good Luck in the Final where they meet Whitewebb Eagles. A really good weekend well worth celebrating in the bar where as we all know the great club spirit that we have is nurtured.
The 1st XI who have had a difficult season have now taken 10 points from their last 4 games culminating in a 6-1 away win against AFC Oldsmiths well done to Os and his team. Our next three teams are all at the head of their respective divisions and in good position to push for promotion. A cracking game on a difficult pitch saw the Res XI beat Old Blues 3-0, goal of the season so far from Charncey. The 3rd XI had a remarkable 19-1 yes 19-1 win over Southgate Olympic who had 11 men and 2 subs. The 4th XI beat AP 4-2. Not such good news lower down with both the 5th and 6th team losing to Broomfield and Winchmore Hill. I have voiced some criticism of our efforts earlier in the season but I feel that after the struggle of the last few years we may be turning the corner, let's keep up the good work and finish the season well. |
