Not a good week the 1st team suffering a heavy defeat at Old Actonians makes this weeks match at Broomfield very important. Defeat there would threaten us with a relegation battle.
The reserves played well in the first half leading 2-0 at half time but their lack of match fitness showed up in the 2nd half and we ended up losing 5-3. I understand very few team members turned up at training during the cold spell remember you only get out what you put in, a massive battle lies ahead to avoid relegation to the 3rd division for the first time in living memory. The good old 3rd XI delivered the goods winning 5-4 against HSBC. The 4's had no game, the 5's drew with Old Stationers the 6th team took 4 points from a double header at EBOG's and a splendid performance from the 7's who held the all conquering Old Garchonians to a 4-4 draw. As an Old Stationer myself I was pleased to welcome their members to our club. Chunky had brought some much needed income by hiring them a couple of pitches they are a good crowd and remarkable survivors considering the school shut in 1983. They were very grateful to be able to play as their pitches were still unfit, do we appreciate how lucky we are with our set up. I was pleased to be able to give them the Presidents jug this week. One point they made to me was that their fourth team had been beaten 8-0 by our 4's the previous week and that some of our team would have got into their 1st team good to hear we have some good players but with our top two teams struggling this is not in the best long term interest of our club. Lets bounce back with some good results this week.
