A mixed week, the 1st XI team made the long journey to Surrey to take on Old Westminster Citizens, we seem to have settled into a good run of form and won the match 3-1.
10 points out of 12 is a good start but there are two other teams with similar records so we cannot afford any slip ups. Good to see our new young first team reviving the tradition of returning to the club after away games. The Res XI had a tough game against NUFC Oilers who we had two titanic battles with last season, they had the same team as last year, yet ours much changed due to players going up to the first team we were defeated 6-1. It will be a major job to keep them in this very strong division. At the club we were joined briefly by another member of our Championship winning side David Muir. The 4th XI were the highest home side, so played on a good looking 1st team pitch, they are a very strong side and beat Old Wokingians in the AFA Cup 7-1. There are players in that side that could play higher but in the modern way don't want to go up. The internal SAL league game between the 5's and 6's finished in a 3-3 draw. The 7's lost 3-2 to Old Lyonians 5th XI. Lets hope for a good week to come COYN

My day began with a lunch with George Shipley a member of our first team that won the senior section in 1966/67 for the first time who was visiting from the USA, he was joined at the ground by two other members of that side Forbes Chapman and Barry Ayers, we were at the top of our game that season as I skippered our third team to win the senior section of their league that season as well. Back to the main ground this week which was looking a picture thanks to Brent, David, Sue and Barry Ayers for their efforts. The 1st XI welcomed newly relegated Carshalton, made a great start and were soon 2-0 ahead then, disaster struck again and we were down to ten men for the third week in a row due to handball on the goal line from which they scored. At half time we knew had a battle on our hands, Carshalton equalised, but in a great fighting performance we scored two more goals to win the game 4-2. Hopefully this week we can keep 10 men on the field. The Res XI had a tough game at home to West Wickham, put in a good performance and won 2-1. The 3rd XI lost for the first time 2-1 at Civil Service but the good news was wins for the 5s, 4-2 against Stationers, 6s, 3-0 against EBOG and 7s, 3-2 against AP. In all a good week but we need to perform at this level every week if we are to meet our goals. I would like to include mention of our youth section in these weekly reports and would welcome some feedback from them. 1st XI v CARSHALTON H L 3.00 Club 1
