President's Patter for 22.03.14

Firstly our grateful thanks to our committee and in particular our Chairman and Chunky for all the good and hard work they put in on Sat and Sunday in organising the AFA Youth Finals with not much help from the AFA on Saturday .
This is something we have done for the last few years and brings prestige and money into our club.
The results this week were mixed with the 1st XI suffering an unlucky defeat to the Vamps which puts us on the fringe of the relegation battle. We have some tough games to come including two against the all conquering Old Garchonians, the first of which is at home this week KO 3.00 pm. We need to put some more points on the board urgently. Every week I seem to be complaining about lack of availability unless we can get that sorted then we never will have success in the higher sides, other sides seem to manage it why not us, answers on a post card please.
The best result of the day was the Reserves winning 1-0 away to Lloyds after starting the game with only 9 men Andy Grant and his team have had a torrid time and it is great to see that they have maintained the spirit to pull off this result, a couple more wins will give us a good hope of avoiding relegation. They certainly win the Presidents jug this week which I shall buy them at their next home game.
The 3rd XI got back to winning ways with a 3-0 win against AP who are top of the table we have a good chance of promotion if we can avoid our usual slip ups against teams lower in the table. The skip who shall remain nameless scored a hat trick and has now scored 29 goals this season, should he be playing higher I ask myself. The 4th XI continued their winning ways beating the 5th XI in an inter club game. Why we cannot get back to only one team per division is beyond me but presumably the powers that be know best ??, they now look certain to gain promotion that means that next season they will have to travel all over London so time to get that commitment from players and not leave it to the last minute. The 6th XI lost both legs of a double header 0-1 to the team at the top of the table both narrowly. I watched some of the 7th XI game, they are greatly improved but lost narrowly, they have several players capable of going up the sides next season so lets work on keeping them involved.
Another important week ahead lets hope we can create some history and gain the first SAL victory over  O G's since they joined the league. We can only do this if we can field our strongest side and with maximum commitment from everybody, COYBG
