COLIN MUNDAY (ex: Old Stationers FC, A P FC and A P CC) link

Please forgive my intrusion into your Club but I have just found out today of the passing of dear FORBES CHAPMAN, a giant of a man in the life of your Club in particular and AFA football in general. As a young man of just 18, I was privileged to play for Old Stationers in my first season 1964-65 and having beaten the reigning champions, Midland Bank on our grassy sward at Underhill in the second game of the season, OSFC went on to become Champions in that 64-65 season, We relinquished the 'title' the following year to Southgate Olympic under their captaincy of Reg Lambourne and it is 'eerie' to recollect that Norseman FC came to Barnet right at the end of the 1966/67 season and beat us 1-0 (I think) to win the Championship. It was a great night, but the festivities under the leadership of Forbes were cut short, owing to the fact OSFC 'ran out of beer' very early and Forbes felt he had no option but to take you victors back to Edmonton and continue your celebrations, followed by quite a few of the OSFC team. That first season for me in the SAL was so memorable and I still wax lyrical about the quality of the Old Stationers side with the likes of Berny Kelly, Alan Rowe, Frank Abbott (captain), Mike Weatherley, Dave Cox, Tony Taylor, Ian Snelling, Keith Ranger, Windy Griffiths, Chris Langford, Don Fletcher and perhaps, for me, the best of them all, Charlie Cruden -
a quiet, cultured assassin on the park. But let all of your members be aware of what a fabulous side Norseman FC were at the time. Regretfully, memory fades with time, but Forbes, Billy Carne (right back) and David Abbey (goalkeeper) will remain with me forever, and also remember David was a fantastic left=arm spin bowler and opening bat who won a one year contract to play county cricket for Middlesex CCC and was the loudest and funniest man in all the 'apres football' in the bar. I apologise for taking so much space, but Norseman FC and Edmonton CC have been part of my footballing and cricket career and one doesn't ever forget the likes of FORBES CHAPMAN, RADIO DENBIGH, DAVID EVANS (MP),MIKE CHALLIS, DAVID ABBEY ETC, but for me FORBES was the voice and inspiration of NORSEMAN FC and he left a lasting memory and 'social ethic' with me and I will forever remember him with great fondness and admiration. Good health and good luck to both Norseman FC and Edmonton CC for the future - both legendary clubs in my memory and, I;m sure, those of so many others and please give my regards to your President, Nigel, who was a colt with me at A P CC many moons ago. Kind regards
Colin Munday

The painting you have been showing these days are quite opposite to your previous work. I think that is one of the markings of a good artist that he or she can change the genre of his work totally in opposite direction anytime he wants.
