On Sunday 19 May Norseman Hornets entered the under 10s tournament in Chorley wood.

We were disappointed to lose our  opening group match  against letchworth Eagles 1-0  as the match was very close.

Despite the pressure in our next match we dug deep and believed in ourselves . Our new player Ethan scoring a well deserved goal to secure a 1-0 victory.

Another 1-0 victory, this time Chorleywood .., followed in our final group match. Defending a corner Norseman broke with Christoper warwick chasing a seemingly lost cause. Keeping it in play he curled a 30 Yard cross into the opponents box where Josh Agambar controlled the ball and hit a screamer into the back of the net. Our manager, Pete Miller, said afterwards that it was a premiership goal!

With 6 points we made it into the quarter finals park field magpies ... despite
going 1-0 down early in the match we didn’t give up. In a space of a just a few minutes Ethan scored  two more goals and Nikhil  thumped a rocket into the top corner for a comfortable 3-1 victory.

The semi final against Westwood park was a tight affair with both sides having chances.  We came close in the few last minute but despite a few scrambled attempts in the box the ball just wouldn’t go into the net. Penalties beckoned.
Both teams scored some exceptional penalties with both goalkeepers pulling a fantastic Save each to make it 4-4 . Sudden death saw our goalkeeper Monty miller not only saving yet another penalty but stepping up and scoring the decisive goal that sent us into the final.

Our opponents, Wembley, had won their group with 3 wins out of 3 scoring 13 goals and conceding only 1. They also beat x 7-1 in the quarter finals so had some pretty good players.
Wembly did start well for the first few minures , keeping the ball , but apart from a chance from a free kick, they didn’t really threaten our solid defence. In the 4th minute From a free kick, Liam guided the ball  from outside the area towards goal, taking a slight deflection , to go 1-0 up. This seemed  to rattle our opponents, as they gave away unnecessary free kicks and they struggled to create any chances. Losing their conposure, one of their players received a yellow card for dissent, something that we don’t often see in under 10s.
With good game management and possesion Football we continued to create chances and never looked like losing.
When the final whistle went we all celebrated and couldn’t wait to lift our first trophy.
You could say that Norseman Hornets were buzzing!

Well, I have to say that the kids have worked so hard for this! Norseman Hornets are so lucky to have these young athletes because they are so dedicated with their chosen team. This wouldn't be possible without their teamwork that's why the team has to take care of them. I know that there are also other kids who want to be part of Norseman Hornets. They can also get the chance to be part of it, they just have to work hard and prove that they really deserve to be part of the team.
