The Norsemen U11 (2017-2018) team came through a tough qualifying tournament coming top of an 8 team league in April to play in the Semi Final at Harvesters ground against Hinton and Finchley Heroes. After a slow start we emerged winners by 2-1 with a great strike from Marino Caamano and another from Mario Furrera. Good disciplined defending saw us through the second half, most notably from  Darragh O’Doherty, George Kamogo and Euan Winterhalder.

Learning from the slow start in the semi final, Norsemen got off to a flier in the Final against Colney Heath Magpies to be 2-0 up inside a few minutes with goals from Mario and Marino. Colney Heath kept pegging us back but we led 3-1 at half time and then Mario got the goal of the tournament running through and beating half the opposition on his own before poking home. Colney Heath came back again but a vital save from Evan Burgess to tip one over the bar and a goal from Joshua Munze, following great movement with Mario and Marino, made it 5-2, nerves were jangling again after the concession of a soft penalty but Mario got his fourth in the final to settle any nerves and we ran out 6-3 winners.

Coach Jon Moore was pleased with the discipline and togetherness of the team which allowed Mario and Josh to run at the opposition and cause panic in their defence, a great end to the season! Well done boys.
