President's Patter for 11th April 2015

13/4/2015

I am glad this season is drawing to a close as I am running out of new and original things to say.
No game for the first team this week just two games for the Res XI and 3rd XI which both ended in victories by 4-1 and 5-2 respectively.
The Res XI complete their programme on Tuesday evening under floodlights at Hanwell Town FC when they play their only contenders for the title NUFC Oilers, a point will clinch the championship of the SAL Intermediate 2nd Division.
The 3rd XI still have an outside chance of promotion if they win their last game next Saturday, if they do not go up they will be unlucky to miss out with the number of points they have achieved, well done to Danny and his team.
This is the end of my second season as President, at the beginning I set a three year target of getting all our sides back into the first division's of their respective leagues. This became more difficult when the 1st XI were relegated last season so it cannot be achieved by the end of next season, but we have the Reserves promoted the 3rd  & 4th XIs narrowly missing out and our lower teams well placed.
Given a well organised and committed close season and with the right skippers we are in a good position to continue to progress towards our target.
I think we need to sort out the personnel in the top two teams and badly need a coach to assist in this any volunteers would be most welcome
