What a great day, it makes all the hard work seem worthwhile. To see nearly 50 old friends gathering together to spend an afternoon reliving their younger days was a wonderful sight and shows what an influence this wonderful club has had on so many peoples lives.
We were honoured with the presence of the top men at both the AFA and the SAL who were both impressed with our ability to put on such a day.
It would be great if we could start to rival our local rivals in having the support of some of our older members on a more regular basis, it's better than shopping or watching TV on a Saturday afternoon.
All our thanks must go to Ian Charles for arranging this day and you will find many pictures of it on the SAL web site.
On the playing side we had a good day the 1st XI won an exciting penalty shootout to get through to the next round of the AFA Senior Cup, the Reserves game was postponed due to our opponents not being able to raise a side, the 3rd XI continued their unbeaten start to the season with a good away win against Old Saleisians, the 4th XI won away in the AFA Cup 6-1 at Wandsworth Boro, the 5th and 6th XIs both lost but the 7th XI had a good ŵin against Broomfield 5th, this match featured Ray Green in his 65th year and first match of his god knows how many seasons with the club.
A good day but there is still much to be done as the 1st XI team is still not strong enough, it needs more talented younger blood and good players already in the club having the ambition to play at the top level COYN.
