President's Patter for 12th Sept'17

12/9/2017

First Saturday of the league season bought generally good results much better than normal.

The skippers and committee App seems to be working well and if used properly can result in much more cooperation and movement between teams. We were restricted to the 2 Grocers pitches at the club despite there being very little activity ,apart from an inter-club cricket match,on the main ground.

The first team made their debut in the 2nd division against a strong Civil Service side we dominated the first half and should have been more than one goal ahead at half time but they appeared to be the fitter side and dominated the second half but we defended well and ran out winners by 1-0. The reserves made the long journey to Merton with a bit of a makeshift side and came away with a good 2-2 draw. The thirds had mass unavailabilities due to a social occasion and the numbers were made up with many of our unengaged fifth team thanks to all of them for helping us fulfil this fixture we lost 5-0. Both the fourth
and sixth team came away with good 2-1 away wins and the sevens won in the league cup 5-2
A good start start let's keep it up and have a really good season
