President's Patter for 25th October

29/10/2014

Not a great week with three wins and four defeats. The firsts lost to a poor Old Esthameians side if we cannot beat them then we are in for a tough season in the 3rd division, our next three sides all won again, the Reserves in the cup and the 3's and 4's in the league consolidating their position at the top.
It is difficult to take much pleasure in their success as they all contain players who are capable of performing at a higher level but lack the ambition and club spirit to play outside their comfort zone. Our bottom three teams all lost narrowly but it is not there that our problem exist, they all make the most of their limited ability and thoroughly enjoy their football played in a good spirit.
We have to be honest with ourselves the club is not in good shape, with its present availability, the first team which is how the club is rated in the league will not have a good season. We are very short of active helpers at Committee level and have lost a couple of officers already this season, we seem to suffer from a reluctance of anybody to volunteer for any of the jobs that need to be done well for a club to succeed this means that all the work falls on very few people which is not a healthy situation.

That's the end of my rant for this week is anybody listening out there
