At last a week not beset with problems and bringing us good results which just goes to prove that if we concentrate on the football we have some good players that are capable of bringing the club some much needed success.
I watched the 1st XI who entertained Ibis a team we have not played for some years at this level, we had a good mixture of youth and experience with at least three new players who performed well. Our veteran contingent Ballers, Nick Murray, Reggie Ayers and Meady all proved there was life in the '' old dog yet'' and we held onto win 1-0 which gives us 6 points from 4 matches not as bad a start as we once feared. We still need reinforcements in some areas to mount a promotion challenge and we have those players in the club already, it's just a case of getting them into the right team.
The '' new'' Reserve team had a good win away to a new team Old Blues and are well placed in the league.
The 3rd XI continued their good start with a 5-1 win away to Old Wilsonians.
The 4th XI continued their winning ways with a narrow victory over Old Finchleians both of these teams are at the top of their respective leagues.
The 6th XI gained their first point of the season with a draw away to the top team Ally Pally and the 7th XI were our only losers sustaining a heavy defeat against a strong AP side.
Next Saturday is my Annual Lunch as President and I hope to see as many of my old friends as possible there, my special guest this year is Ian Hunter MBE who is Chairman of the SAL.
Lets hope for a successful day both on and off the field.
