The Committee met on Monday December 1st and there will be meetings on the first Monday of each month. The Committee comprises as follows: Nigel Chamberlain President Ronnie Robinson Chairman Barry Ayers Acting Chairman Nick Murray Hon Secretary Chris Beveridge Hon Treasurer Ian Charles Hon Match Secretary Ross Coleman Hon Referees Secretary Mike Pearl Events TBA Social Secretary Kelly Patterson Asst Welfare Officer Ronnie Robinson Development Officer Captains: Osman Ibrahim 1st X1 Joe Morris Reserves Danny Green 3rd X1 Sam McLoughlin 4th X1 Dan Cutting Jack Vial 5th X1 Lee Reynolds 6th X1 Darren Roberts 7th X1 Please view the NFC site – Club/about us/Committee/rules to remind ourselves of how the club operates and is run. November was a tough month for everyone and we were very near to calling games off due to poor availability. Please help your captains by giving them your monthly availability, this will then help us programme and highlight potential problem weeks. We also intend to post the squads on ‘WhatsApp’ by Tuesday evening. The Reserves, 3rd, 4th are still riding high in their divisions and the 5’s, 6’s and 7’s are all well placed. Subscriptions are now overdue so please pay as soon as possible because the Club has already amounted fines of over £800 this season. We do recoup the fines from you, the players but the Club itself has fines of £200. Discipline is not good, so if you could make a New Years’ resolution to try to keep your names out of the referee’s book, it could save you and the Club a lot of money. We welcome Kelly Patterson as our Assistant Welfare Officer and Ronnie Robinson is working hard on our Charter Standard Health Check and Football Fund Development Grant Application. Please keep out of trouble on the pitch and help your captains with availability. A report will follow after each meeting to let you know how we are progressing. Your input is very important so please let’s hear from you. Best of luck on Saturday and a very Happy Christmas and Healthy New Year. The Committee met on Monday November 10th and there will be meetings on the first Monday of each month. The committee comprises as follows: Nigel Chamberlain President Ronnie Robinson Chairman Barry Ayers Acting Chairman Nick Murray Hon Secretary Chris Beveridge Hon Treasurer Ian Charles Hon Match Secretary Ross Coleman Hon Referees Secretary Mike Pearl Events TBA Social Secretary Captains: Osman Ibrahim 1st XI Joe Morris Reserves XI Danny Green 3rd X1 Sam McLoughlin 4th X1 Jack Vial 5th X1 Lee Reynolds 6th X1 Darren Roberts 7th X1 Please view the NFC site – Club/about us/Committee/rules to remind ourselves of how the club operates and is run. We need as much help as possible from the membership to finish this season on a high – so the hard work starts now. We need a Social Secretary to serve on the committee and one other member to join the Committee to assist with various jobs. The Captains are at full stretch so the load needs to be spread. We will only get out what we put in, so we all need to pull together both on and off the field by giving each other as much help and assistance as possible. All sides are in the top half of their respective league tables which is a credit to their captain. If all players could consider playing in a higher team in the New Year, if selected, we could be even better placed than we are today. Its just first division football we want for the club and you. Pete Withers and his crew have made the bar and club house a delight and Brent does marvels with all the pitches. We have some of the best facilities in North London so let’s enjoy by supporting the club in any way you can. Please support your Captain with good availability and good behaviour on the pitch. Remember your Committee are in office to receive any constructive criticism and input you may have. Without you we have no club. The Committee have to make decisions whether it is selection or discipline. We hope you understand our decisions and we do realise you may not like the decision, but we hope it makes for the good running of the club. We have a committed President, Committee and back up support who have given years of service to the club with one aim and that is to play good football, make good friends and continue the good name of Norsemen Football Club. A report will follow after each meeting to let you know how we are progressing. Your input is very important, so please let’s hear from you. Best of luck for Saturday. Barry Ayers – Acting Chairman Home: 01707 261317 Mob: 07768 848604 Email: [email protected] I just read your "Presidents Patter", so thought I would drop you a line. It's hard to believe that 2 players for the 1's would simply fail to show up; in all my years playing, I think the only times we played with 10, was down to an injury on the field or a sending off. I'm sure the decline of the 1st XI & how to find a way back to prominence is 'doing your head in'; it definitely saddens me!
I had hoped to be over for October 11th, however this has been a year full of change & events, all of which have cost $'s. My corporate job was cut in March, so I am rebuilding my financial planning practice. Fortunately my health is good & I have had a busy summer coaching & organising coaches for the local Soccer Club (where I work part-time). I'm sorry to miss out again & will make every effort next year (120 for the Club). In the meantime my very best wishes to all my old friends & colleagues.......and to you Nigel, I know how much you care, so I hope you receive the support & can generate the results you deserve. Take care of yourself & 'keep the faith'. Hello Nigel ,
After what must have been a frustrating first term as President of our great Club, I wanted to drop you a message of support & to wish Osman Ibrahim all the very best (as new 1st team Captain) in the task of turning Norsemen fortunes around. I have included a few observations from afar, which I trust will be taken in the spirit with which they are intended. From reading & enjoying your "Presidents Patter", it sounds as though the first matter to address is that of commitment to the team, something I was familiar with in my second stint as Captain which began with relegation to Div. 2 in 1979/80. I spent half that season injured & having to watch the team struggle (including a horrendous AFA Senior Cup exit to Glyn O.B.). My resolution for 1980/81 was to demand commitment & as a consequence we instituted a training policy (i.e. you don't train, you don't play). Several 'star players' fell foul of the new policy, however the players who came in (including John Bayer & Jon Baldwin who had been in the 3rd team), became stalwarts; we gained immediate promotion & the new policy was vindicated. From there we went from strength to strength, Duncan Elder came in, Blanch joined & youngsters like Gareth Shaw, Paul Smart, Dave Morrison & Rickey Frost came through, culminating in our memorable 1982/3 season. I know times are little different now & I don't want to sound like an 'old sweat' with a 'not like it was in my days' attitude; nonetheless spirit & commitment to the cause on the field are key components of a successful team - not to be under estimated! Perhaps there are one or two players who can move up & maybe there might be some jewels in the Norsemen Youth program who will come through & bolster the ranks........spurring a revival in Club fortunes. Anyway, despite being far away, I follow Norsemen results every week & I hope to get back for the Old Boys day, having missed the past 2 years. This year might be a stretch as Haydn is getting married in August & I have a possible new work commitment starting in September. Also, I should let you know that Kiera just had a baby boy yesterday - so happy days here in Canada! My best wishes to you & Pat & I hope this finds you both keeping well. I look forward to the Blue Giants "walking tall" again, so keep the faith Nigel! Brian (Morty) |
